Lots of supplements claim to be the end-all of your quest to find the best to help you achieve your fitness goals. But it is important that you carefully study your options before taking any extra pills, as some of them can be complete scams. We’re here to help you navigate this process! We have done our research, and come to you with our best conclusions. So read on! Today we have Meratrim, a new supplement marketed by Interhealth Inc based in the US.
What is it?
“Meratrim Fruit and Flower Formula”, AKA as simply “Meratrim” is a new nutritional supplement that aims to help weight loss processes as well as boost your metabolism and prevent premature aging because of its antioxidant effect.
This supplement combines Garcinia Mangostana and Sphaeranthus Indicus. Garcinia Mangostana it’s a fruit that has been used for centuries to treat various diseases and also has been extensively researched and has shown to be a powerful antioxidant –making it have relevant anti aging effects, with also antibacterial properties and the ability to lower lipids in the blood.
For its own part, Sphaeranthus Indicus (AKA East Indian Thistle) has showed in-vitro anti-inflammatory properties that decreases the symptoms of atherosclerosis in animals, decreases the effects of psoriasis on human skin and has well reported general antioxidant properties.
These two plants, combined, have been proved to increase weight loss and change –for the better- the BMI of its users.
The powerful botanical extracts contained in Meratrim have caused even famous Tv host Dr. Oz to review this supplement on one of his shows. Recently, the videos from the official Dr. Ox page showing him recommending Meratrim (and other supplements) have been removed, probably due to complaints and questionings that arose over the consequences of the host recommending certain supplements. This probably has nothing to do with the effectiveness of any of these supplements.
How does it work?
In a study carried out in 2013, Meratrim was scientifically tested to see its actual impact on weight loss. After 8 weeks of strict 2000-calorie diet and light exercise 5 days a week, the Meratrim group gathered generally better results than the group that had taken a placebo. This means that the supplement actually works, at least when paired with a reasonable diet and exercise plan and in a short span of time. The effects of taking this supplement for a long time as a weight loss aid hasn’t been studied. As with anything, before taking any extra supplements, you should always refer to your doctor beforehand.
Meratrim should be taken around 30 minutes before 2 meals, ideally breakfast and dinner, with water enough for the compounds to dissolve effectively. Several nutritional supplements companies manufacture Meratrim as a supplement, at different ratios and also with different add-ons such as green Tea extracts and other antioxidant additions. Most of them have an ideal ration of 3 to 1 of Sphaeranthus Indicus to Garcinia Mangostana.
A lot of people that have reviewed Meratrim state that they have indeed seen a significant change on their weight loss rhythms, making it a viable option if you want to help speed things up or even jumpstart your fitness journey. Users have also reported having changes in their body composition and BMI, always alongside a comprehensive exercise and diet plan.
The stabilizing effect the East India Thistle has on blood sugar levels could help people going through a weight loss journey feel satiated for more time with the same –or less!- amount of food. This means you will be one step closer to your ideal fit body without the feeling of starvation.
There have been reports of a few mild contraindications and generally nasty effects after taking Meratrim. Some people have stated they have felt slightly nauseous and slight stomach pain shortly after taking the supplement. Overall, these could be considered very mild.
Nevertheless, it is important you start slowly, as with any new supplement. Also, don’t surpass the recommended daily amount of 800 mg of Meratrim per day. It would also help to ingest plenty of water and stop completely any and all supplements at least two weeks prior to surgery. As always, if your symptoms remain after a few days, stop using the product right away and consult your local doctor.
As with everything, this supplement does not seem to be the Holy Grail when it comes to weight loss processes. Nevertheless, scientific research shows that it has a mild effect when combined with a healthy plan of diet and exercise.
This could be said of many nutritional aids. More so, Meratrim could actually help with your fitness journey. You will have to combine your intake with a healthy diet plan and some cardio activity, but if you are decided to get fitter you should be thinking of that either way. As with anything extra, you should always consult your physician before deciding to take any nutritional supplements. Always consult a doctor.
